AI assistant access uses the public API, so it is included in the Team and Stack plans.
Overview
Watchman Tower runs a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Once you connect it, your AI assistant can answer questions about your account and, if you allow it, manage your monitors. What you can ask
- “Is everything OK with my sites?”
- “Which monitors are down or slow right now?”
- “Show the incidents from the last 24 hours and what caused them.”
- “What were the response times for my checkout page this week?”
- “Which SSL certificates or domains expire soon?”
- “How is the CPU and memory on my servers?”
- “Add a monitor for https://example.com.” (needs write access)
- “Pause the staging monitor until I say so.” (needs write access)
Connect Claude or ChatGPT
Claude (web, desktop and mobile) and ChatGPT connect with your Watchman Tower login. You don’t need an API key.Add a custom connector
- Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Create. Custom connectors may require developer mode on your ChatGPT plan.
https://mcp.watchmantower.com/mcp as the URL.Sign in
You are sent to Watchman Tower. Sign in with the account whose monitors you want the assistant to use.
Review the permissions
The consent screen lists what the assistant can read. Monitor changes (add, pause, resume, delete and restore) are off unless you tick Add, pause, resume and delete monitors.
Connect Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code
Clients that accept custom headers can use an API key instead of signing in.- In the dashboard, go to API Keys → Connect an AI assistant and click Create read-only key.
- Copy the secret key. It is shown only once.
- Add the server to your client. For Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http watchman-tower https://mcp.watchmantower.com/mcp and sign in when prompted.

Disconnect
Go to API Keys → Connected apps in the dashboard and revoke the connection. The assistant loses access immediately. To remove a key-based connection, revoke the key in the same page.Data and privacy
- The connector only returns data from your own account, filtered to what the request needs.
- Watchman Tower does not read your chats, memory or files in the assistant.
- Monitor names, URLs and incident text you send to the assistant are processed by that assistant’s provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) under their terms.
- See our Privacy Policy for how Watchman Tower handles your data.
Limits
- Requests share your public API rate limit.
- Large lists are paginated; the assistant fetches more pages when it needs them.
- Monitors can only be created for public addresses. Private and internal IPs are rejected.
